PORTFOLIO

RECENT WORK

My recent work focuses on dark comedies looking at both the funny and violent realities of life. These ideas often start as ridiculous sketches but over time become specific graphite and charcoal drawings. Artwork found in this category is from 2023 to the present.

COMMISSIONS

I got started painting when gifting drawings to other people. I found it was a wonderful thing and point of connection to listen to someone's idea or story and turn it into a visual painting. Creating something customized is a collaboration I love to do. Email emyholder@icloud.com to get your very own personalized artwork.

FIGURE DRAWINGS/ PAINTING

I love figures and anatomy. I believe our bodies are the way we interact and communicate with the world and people around us. It is incredible to draw and express human form.

One of my favorite classes to teach is Intro to Figure Drawing!

ILLUSTRATIONS

As a child, my favorite thing to do was read. I loved being immersed in stories, but I also loved the artwork in them. How I remember the books of my childhood is through the illustrations.
Book illustrating holds a special place in my heart. It is my dream to transform adult books into one-of-a-kind artworks that bring to life the character's story because we all deserve to see our heroes, villains, and anyone in between, come to life and be a part of our memories.

RESIDENCY ART/ STUDY ABROAD

Studying abroad in Florence, Italy was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I grew not only in my art but as a person. There I took my first figure drawing class and learned to do monotype prints.

This summer I will be going to New York for their summer residency program. I am excited to share the work I create there with you!

IN PROGRESS

Stop by to see my in-progress work!

I think it's important to realize every piece of art starts off looking like the craziest thing in the world, but ends up being something beautiful and unique. Here I will share my ups and downs with you. I hope you learn from them just as much as I do.
